Subscriber groups
Save a filtered list, like people who haven't opened lately, and send to just them. The group stays current as your audience changes.
A group is a saved set of filters. The people in it are always the ones who match right now. Select a group in the Groups section of Audience to see who’s in it. To send to one, pick it when you choose an audience, and XOXO uses whoever matches at the moment you send.
Create a group
- Open Audience, then select the Subscribers card.
- Select the button and add one or more filters.
- Select Actions, then Save as group.
- Name the group and save it.
A subscriber has to match every filter to be in the group. See group filters for what you can filter on.
Edit a group
- Open Audience, then select the Subscribers card.
- Select the name at the top of the list, Everyone or the group you’re viewing, to open the group list.
- Select the menu next to the group, then Edit.
- Change the name or filters, then select Save.
Delete a group
- Open Audience, then select the Subscribers card.
- Select the name at the top of the list, Everyone or the group you’re viewing, to open the group list.
- Select the menu next to the group, then Delete.
- Select Delete to confirm.
Deleting a group doesn’t delete any subscribers.
Group filters
Filters come in three kinds:
- Fields: the email address and any field you’ve created, with operators that fit the type, like “includes” for text, “is more than” for numbers, and “in the last” for dates.
- Attributes: how someone joined (Source, Form, or Connection), when they were Added, and their Tag.
- Activity: whether they were Emailed, Opened, or Clicked, by one email, by how recently, or by how many times. Opened and Clicked appear only while open and click tracking is on.
A filter on one email, like Didn’t open your last issue, also matches people who never got it. Add Sent for the same email to keep to the people it went to.
Opens and clicks are estimates, so Opened can include people who never read the email, and Didn’t open can include people who did. Check Clicked too before you remove anyone for not opening. Tracking emails explains why.
